At least I got my self a Model-10. -- I have for long time looking forward to such an acquisition.
Most noticeable features:
- Dash number 11
- Bought new in an European weapon store January 2010. (13 years after production)
- Serial number; CDW56xx
- Inscriptions on the barrel: L.H.S.: SMITH & WESSON -- R.H.S.: 38 S.&W. SPECIAL CTG.
- 4 inch, one-piece, heavy barrel
- Round butt
- No key operated internal security lock
- MIM made thumbpiece, trigger and hammer
- Floating firing pin. (due to the MIM made, flat-faced, hammer)
- Cylinder-stop-lug machined integral to the frame
- Originaly provided with Uncle Mike's RB Rubber Grips with finger grooves
Markings:
- Akah
- Capital E with a star above
- A cind of (interupted) underlined capital G
- Proof mark: A circle around a captital L. With a Crown on the top of it. Or maybe it is a dish with a fire.
Belgium (I think) Proof Marks and inspection marks on the barrel, yoke and cylinder. Plus the letters "Akah", which I think stands for a large German weapen importer (Home / AKAH - Albrecht Kind GmbH). It would be great it someone had some comments to the markings.
Added value items?
- The last carbon steel blue revolver in S&W's regular production line (i.e. not the Classic Line)
- The latest M10 without the internal security lock
- The latest M10 without the two-piece barrel
- Possible soon out-of-production (The guess is due to the introduction of Model-10 in the "S&W Classic Line")
Anyone think that this issues can give this weapon added second hand value?
