Can anyone provided production numbers for the Model 15-5?

I would like to buy this gun for NRA Stock Service Competition and my gunsmith who is big on these rules saying this particular model has to be standard production with over a thousand units produced.

I called SW and all they could tell me was the Model 15-5 was produced for 3 years starting in 1985. Customer Svc said he was pretty sure that for 3 year production run, it should have exceeded a thousand guns but could not confirm.

I read the rules concerning stock revolver and it does not saying anything about production numbers.

The rules did say has to be a Catalogued Item. I assume the 15-5 was catalogued?????

anyone with insight or information would be greatly appreciated.

The 15-5 was introduced in 1982, the 15-6 in 1988 according to the catalog. Do the rules apply to engineering changes within the model numbers?

I cannot answer your question. I just dont know. but my gunsmith who is top in this game said there would need to be a production model (-5) with over 1000 units made. He is under the belief there were no production model heavy barrel 15s.

He is waiting for Jim Rae to call him and he will ask him but he said Jim sometimes takes a while to call back.
