I won't go into details as to why but I have had 5 Model 500s, all good guns, I now have just two, a PC 6.5" and the new one (a month old), an 8.375" original model.

Being a typical gun enthusiast, I took the new ones side plate off, used a can of pressurized air on the trigger components and then a modest amount of CLP at friction points.

This gun has a really outstanding trigger pull, better than the PC model or any of the previous guns. Nothing but good things to say about the gun. Don

Hi DonD,
I think this is the first post mentioning about the trigger pull of M500s after all these years! Yeah, I know you are one of the oldest forum member who own more than one M500s, like them a lot, and shoot them a lot. From my limited experience of shooting M500s in the past 5 years, the trigger pull is one of the most important fact to shoot them well, especially if you shoot near the top end loads off hand. The singl action pull of my M500s range from 1.75lb to 3.75lb and I find around 3lb is just about right for me.

I agree. When I'm shooting heavy loads, I need to really concentrate, it usually precludes flinches. If I had to deal with a scratchy, stacking, heavy pull, I think it would really degrade my shooting.

Great guns, like I've said many times before. Don

I own two, an 8 3/8" original model purchased in '03, probably one of the first to show up in my area, and a 4" that I picked up in '05. I've shot and carried both quite extensively. I wouldn't mind getting one of the John Ross guns one of these days if they are still available.

I agree, that the SA triggers on both are excellent, and it is definitely a good thing. The DA pull isn't too bad, but seems a little herky-jerky to me, due undoubtedly to having to move that massive cylinder around.
