Hello All-

I am seriously considering getting a 22-4 .45 acp revolver. I have handled them at the gun store & read reviews of them. I have owned several Brazilian Contract 1917/37 revolvers, and was favorably impressed.

My question is this: does anyone out there have one? What is the general consensus? Is it worth the money?

Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

I've had one for a few year's now and love it. The IL dont concern me in a steel N frame and it's a great shooter as well. The factory grip's leave a lot to be desired and after I found the set that worked for me all is well. In Auto Rim I use a 255gr swc with good result's. Are they worth the money, heck yes!

I've had one for a little over two years and have shot it quite a lot. I really like it, but then I have a weakness for 45 ACP revolvers of any sort.

The sights are correctly regulated for 230 gr bullets at standard velocity, but the POI with +P range ammunition is darn close.

The double action is smooth and now runs about 10lbs, which is rather light. The single action is a very consistant 4.5lbs, but is very crisp so it feels lighter.

It is full of MIM parts and has the lock. The MIM parts have held up perfectly so far. The lock...well that comes under the heading of personal choice. I don't like it, but I can live with it. Others feel differently.

I mainly shoot ARs in mine, but it functions perfectly with moon clips.

The only thing I would change (other than the grips), is the half moon front sight. It tends to get a little shiny on top and in some light this will induce elevation errors. The later angled front sight would have been a better choice even if it didn't look quite as "retro".

I've had one for a few years with no problems. It shoots were I point it and runs great.
Go for it.

I got one of the first ones. It has shot very well for me, and I really like it. With moon clips is reloads like greased lightning, I can't do it as fast as JM, but I can reload as fast as any auto I own. For AR I use HKS Speedloaders. Smith hit the bullseye with this one-even with the lock.

Great revolver: as an earlier poster commented they like 230s and shoot POA with the heavier bullets. I wish I would of had one of these when I worked for the Sheriffs Office. I have a TR and I liked it so well I purchased a 625 JM for gaming.

I bought a nickel plated 22-4 a couple of months ago and I'm well pleased.

I made two simple mods which have made the gun easier to shoot.

First I put in a Brownells spring kit with a 14# rebound spring which lowered the s.a. pull weight from 4.5 to 3.5#. The d.a. pull is smoother and lighter as well.

Second I installed a lower S&W Patridge front sight which provides a much better sight picture and is regulated for a 6'oclock hold at 25 yds. with my preferred 200 grain handloads.

My next change will be grips but I haven't made up my mind between a Magna pattern or a nicer set of the vintage style. Magna style will be more comfortable but I love the the look of the period round top stocks.

I have owned three of them. I trade and sell and I sold the first two but I still have the last one. I love the looks and handling of them better that my 625-8. I love the tapered barrel . I cannot shoot it as well as the 625 but it has the chrisma. Buy one. You can get your money back anytime if you buy right.

I have one in blue steel I am carrying on duty now....
I love it...yes, it has MIM parts and a lock, but the dern thing is a great fighting handgun....
I got some used rubbers for it for $10 bucks at a local fun store, and I have to do something with the front sight, since the rather bright blue reflects light....it is pinned, I think I am just gonna file it and dab some orange paint on it...
I have 35 loaded moonclips for it, and I consider it to be an excellent handgun....
I can replace the sight if I ever have to...but I am pretty sure this gun ain't going anyplace....
