Recently purchased a 296 ti 2.5 , been a fan of 44 special for a while. Don't see these for sale very often and I couldn't resist. Have a charter arms and a s&w model 69 that I shoot fairly often, thinking of making this a carry gun .

I got one a couple years ago as I had a hankering for one for years. I think they are cool if not a little unusual looking.

One of the ugliest revolvers that S&W ever produced. That said, its DA trigger is one of the best I have and its light weight makes it easy to carry. I used it with a mix of JHPs and shot shells for carrying on the ranch. . . . .until I got a Governor.

The thread title is 296. Which is it?

Great find, I love my 296. I found most of the JHP ammo a bit stout to shoot and recover the sights, and I have my doubts about JHP's expanding from the 2.5" barrel, so I load the Lost River Ammunition 185gr Wadcutter and it is a joy to shoot with those. Hits to the sights and good groups. TT Leather made me a nice IWB rig for it.

I am sure it is quite a bit more durable than my Charter bulldog.

My 296 Ti is part of my carry rotation. I use a Simply Rugged Sourdough holster and one of their Most Versatile Ammo Pouches with a Tuff strip loader and Critical Defense ammo (I'd prefer some other ammo, but this is the Commie state of NJ and they don't trust us with hollow points).
