Polished Stainless Vs Nickel
I acquired two nice 3 inch 357's, one a 65 and the other a 13
The one with stag grips is a 13 and the other one is a 65 thats been polished. By itself the 65 appears to be nickel. I am interested to know which will wear better and i would think stainless and which would be easier to clean and I think stainless. I would be interested in opinions and any pics anyone wants to share of a high polished snubby. Thanks

The stainless won't peel.
Polished guns show fingerprints and dings worse than other finishes.
If you want bling, you gotta work at it!

Stainless will win for durability and ability to restore the finish.

Nickel is beautiful but very fragile. Stainless is the only way to go for a gun you shoot.

I personally like the looks of nickle better than stainless. That said I have seen some very nice polished stainless guns. I'm a shooter and only own stainless guns. Non polished.

I just recently acquired a nickel 586. I like stainless and blue guns, but that nickel gun just makes me smile. :-) it's a nice complement to my tupperware ccw.

polished stainless guns
I used to think that a polished stainsless gun lost its value but somehow its attractive. I have a couple i will post as soon as i get my picture skills under better control. How come we never see any stainless autos polished to a mirror finish?

A polished stainless 1911 with peral grips!!!
I don't think so...... That doesn't do a thing for me! LOL
I did see a S&W model 39 semi auto pistol that was stainless, real stainless and not nickle or chromed. It had a special serial number. A guy down by the lake had it. Said it was made for one of the guys that worked at Smith & Wesson and how he came into possion of it. I just don't remember all the details on that one.

Very nice finds, Haris1. Please share some larger photos, especially of that nickel 13, if you would. That's a real beauty with those short stags on it.

My stainless Smiths are all factory finish (not polished) so I don't know how easy a polished one would scratch but I do know that nickel is tougher than a lot of people think. I'd say a nickeled gun would certainly "wear better" than a blued model and might show less wear than a highly polished stainless. Of course, the factory stainless finish shows less wear than any of them.
