Default Model 65 ladysmith Questions

I really love the looks of this model. It seems these are a bit harder to find though. I am ANTI-LOCK..... so which models do not have the locks and when did they start putting those dang things in?

Is there any special Dash that is more desired than others?

If anyone has one they want to part with, let me know!

Thanks!

Hello-

All I can say is: You have good taste! In my humble opinion, the S&W Model 65 Ladysmith 3" barrel .357 revolver is one of THE best wheel guns S&W ever made.

It's everything you want in a revolver and nothing you don't. It's like a K frame 681. What's not to like?

I just paid-off one, (a 65-5 LS) I had on lay-a-way and it's a beaut!

As far as I know...it's the only fixed sight K frame that came with a full shrouded 3" barrel.

Here are a few pics of mine. Good luck with your search...they are out there. Expect to pay a bit of a premium as you & I are not the only two individuals who think these 65's are super cool.

3 inch, combat sights, full underlug, full ejector rod. cant do too much better for a practical and sexy looking carry gun. i have 1 and passed on another that i now regret. finding a pre lock one is not an easy chore in PRK.

Default I Caught Her......

in the corner of the safe, playin' with her bigbrother's rubbers. I think she looks better in the old ones that took a real shellackin' at some point.

I may be wrong but I think the 65-5 was the only dash number 65Ladysmith, this was pre lock and pre MIM.

I agree with Merv on the Ladysmith; a truly fine revolver.

According to the Standard Catalog of Smith&Wesson, there was one other 65 with a 3-inch shrouded barrel, called the HunterSmith. I've only seen one for sale, a few years ago, and passed. Whata dunce!

Somebody on this forum posted a picture of a 3", underlugged Model 13 a few years ago. I think they refered to it as a "fixed-sight Model 19" (maybe it was experimental). It was identical to the 65LS, but blued and with a slightly wider hammer. That was the pretty's revolver I've ever seen, perfect ratios, gourgeous.

Build you own, like this:

started life as

rebarrelled and polished

BTW, 3" LS barrels are no longer available, got this one from Brownells a few years back. Wanted to get another later, they are gone.
