Default 45lc/410/45acp S&W

Heres an interesting item - a new S&W revolver that shoots 45lc, 2.5" 410, or 45acp with moon clips

Smith & Wesson Governor .410 Shotshell/ .45LC Revolver

Look around here for some other threads on the Governor and I think you'll see most here are not interested.

I thought this was a joke until I went to the S&W website! It's a sad day when S&W rides on the coat tails of Taurus.

Thanks for posting the link - it was helpful to see the gun being held to get a good idea of its size.

I like it, though I'm not sure I can justify spending $700 on one.

I hope Smith sells a boatload of them. I think having six shots and the ability to use .45 ACP will put it ahead of the Taurus.

I guess I just need to have my Judge mooncliped- if I wanted to shoot .45 ACP's that is...likely all Taurus has to do, and add $20.00 at retail to their guns. Mine is set up with a 12" barrel and tubes for shooting shot- I've never shot a round of .45 Colt through it.

I would think the .45ACP would be a dismal performer with that much freebore and shallow rifling- dismal at accuracy, but I'm certain it would tumble the bullet and make even FMJ's more lethal at close range.

Of course, the above is only speculation. I guess .45ACP are more available than .45 Colts. The problem is, only gun nuts fool with moonclips- the guy that owns just this one gun and wants to throw it in his night stand won't fool with them.

I don't believe it will hurt the Judge, as people that want one, might not to spend another $200. or $300 over the price of a Judge. That's half the price of the Judge to begin with- and about four years too late.
