Default Md686 Effector--What the heck is it?

I was at the lousy Tanner show today in Denver. I walked by a table where a Md 686 was sitting. It appeared to have a 2 1/2" barrel. I picked it up and noticed the left side of the barrel said Effector. It has a full lug barrel and rubber grips. I asked the price and the guy said he had just bought the gun and had not priced it. I came back 10 min later and asked the price again--he said it is already sold. What did I miss?

What you missed was a custom conversion done by the John Jovino Company in New York City. They did alot of nice conversions for civilians and law enforcement. They are fairly desirable and carry a premium.

From what I understand, they did very few 686's.

Link to a thread about a members 686 EFFECTOR

3" Jovino, 2.5" 25-2,with grip question

Here is my 629 Jovino EFFECTOR that started life as a 6" and was sent from S&W to Jovino per Jinks.
