Opinions sought- 5" 327 PC 8-shooter
Recently, I purchased a 2" PC 327 gun, and after de-locking it, installing Plug and bobbing the hammer, I am deeply impressed with the ugly gun. Eight rounds of delicious .357 goodness warms my heart. Since obtaining this ugly little Fat Boy, I have been looking at the PC 5" guns with some degree of admiration, and may or may not purchase one, with the idea of doing the same, limited alterations. What say you folks?
(PS: Those of you who simply hate all post-wind-up-lock Smiths, please don't bother to respond. I, too, hate the grease-zerk/Hillary/Bill/Holder/Reno/Safety-Hammer hole, along with the MIM difficulties, but most problems seem to be reversible or redeemable. If I choose to get one of these guns, it will be with full knowledge of the potential manufacturing defects associated with these "improvements," so I can deal with them. I just don't think I'll live long enough to see it all disappear.)

I've got a PC 327, a TRR8, and I love the gun. I shoot it mostly with .38spl but it is fun to shoot .357 in. It is an accurate gun. I love the gold bead front sight and the 8rd capacity. I really like the finish, seems very durable so far. The only thing I don't like is the trigger stop that I'm thinking about fixing with my new Dremel. I don't use the moon clips but I like the fact that I can if I choose to. I like the old Smith's, but this one is a keeper.

Thanks, ARM!! That's exactly the kind of info for which I'm looking. Couple of questions: What is the problem with the trigger stop? Has it "stopped" too soon, or does it just worry you?
Have you shot it any with full-house 125gr. JHP/SJHP screamer loads? If so, how does it behave?
I also do not use the moon clips. While I LOVE moon clips for my 7-shot L-frames, 6-shot 625s and 5-shot Js, there just does not seem to be enough room for enough steel to keep the 8-shooters from being too flimsy.

I also like the chamfered cylinders! My first revo with that.
The trigger stop is wearing the finish off where it touches the frame and I don't like that.
I have shot 158gr and 110gr .357 and it shoots just fine. I don't think there's excessive recoil with .357 it seems like shooting my 686 with .357mag, a lot more stout than .38 but it aint no .44mag. You know what I mean?

I have a 327 M&P R8 and it has been a joy since I bought it. The scandium frame and heavy barrel shroud make it balance like a PPC revolver and it shoots like one as well. I have shot approximately 6500 rounds of .38 through it in the last year and the performance has been excellent. I have slightly modified mine:
Miculek grips and an Eotech is all that I have done to her. The double action is fantastic and that is the only way I shoot. I have not used the moon clips yet nor have I carried it (I have a holster for it from Simply Rugged for when the top rail and optic is removed) but I do plan to do so.
In my opinion, this is the best revolver I have ever owned or shot. I would highly recommend one to anyone looking for a serious wheel gun.

I just ordered the 5" PC M627 - SKU 170210. It'll be another 10 days until I pick it up.
