Use advil, or Aleve, the pain will soon be gone! Yes, its a hoot, but better with 44 Specials. At least if you're going to do any extended shooting. You might even want to consider buying and reloading some 44 Russians.

The guns have some ideal uses. One is carrying all day and when you really aren't going out to shoot for the day. But when you see a place that's inviting or the time is right, so you fire a cylinder or two, then walk on.

Few people I know buy a 329 (NG or not) have it as their only 44. Most of us purchase them as our 3rd or 4th 44. When we go out to burn up a box of Magnum loads, its the 629 that gets selected every time. If we bring along the 329, its to play with for a cylinder or two. Pain is the determining factor.

If you fire a box of full house 44 magnums, your hand will pay for it. So don't punish yourself (unless you deserve it.) Guess which gun you are most likely to carry for a full day when you don't plan on firing it? Yep, the comfortable one. And they are a hoot to shoot.

I have some 300 grain loads, bear hunting loads. Its factory ammo. I've got 2 or 3 boxes of 20 rounds, slowly being worked down.

If you buy a 329, you might consider picking some up. Surely not to fire yourself. But keep some on hand if a loudmouth insists he can handle the recoil. Then without telling him what they are, let him fire them.

love my 320 pd, but I practice w/ 240gr LSWC's at about 850 fps (which feel like full-house loads in that gun). Full-charge stuff makes your hand sting, like you caught a softball bat somebody swung at you.
I'e kept the wood grips on, because they fit my hand well. I haven't tried the Hogue's, but I bet they're easier. I also practice more with my 629 classic powerport and the 29-3 8 & 3/8". But the 329 is the one that gets carried on walks through the woods or as a backup deer hunting.
