Model 22 front sight options...
I recently purchased a Model 22-4 and am wondering if there are any alternative front sight options? For some reason my eyes just do not pick up the half-moon style front sight well. Is there a ramped style with which I can switch it out?

I had the same problem. Ended up filing the face of the sight flat, at about the same angle as a regular front sight. It helped. You could also measure the height and look for a replacement at Brownells that is about the same height.

I put a partridge style gold bead on mine. So much faster to pick up.

That really sounds like the ticket! I really like gold bead fronts. What brand did you use? Brownells?

Yeah the one you get on brownells is made by SDM. There are 2 sizes, I believe I used the .250 one.

That gold bead is on my shopping list too (as soon as I convince myself that my 22-4 will be more reliable with factory ammo that it was with my hand loads)

.250 is the correct size. I put one on my Model 22. I also used a patridge style front size and cut the rear face of the sight to a 20 degree angle with the angle sloping upwards. Made it easier to clear leather.
Used Brownells oxypho to blue the steel after being cut and angled. The Patridge sight was the same height of the SDM gold bead.
