Thank you, you saved me typing out essentially the same response.

Default No Luck with the Office of the Oklahoma Attorney General

Scratch filing a complaint with the Oklahoma AG's office. Got a letter from Peggy Paddyaker Investigative Analyst stating that *we have no authority over matters of the nature.* So it seems that the USPS mail fraud route is the only option.

I ordered a T grip adapter for my Model 63 the first of January. They cashed my check promptly, and I have not heard from them since. They have no email, never answer the phone, and ignore snail mail inquiries.

The only conclusion one can draw at this point, is that they have gone out of business, except for cashing checks and keeping the money.

*Peggy Paddyaker Investigative Analyst*
Whilst one might think that, I'm not that creative.
I'll scan the letter and post tomorrow.

BillBingham2, I emailed you. I'm a hopeless optimist. (If you're following this, Tyler grips, you cashed my check in March, 2011. Send me my adapter and all is forgiven. If you don't. Luigi and Deathmask are packing their bags)

Wink I didn't want this to get out, BUT

The whole Tyler T problem is all my fault.I just wanted one 3R for my RB 19-3. Before I wanted this one grip they were everywhere. HECK, I even heard that some people just gave them away to friends who didn't have one. NOW, this whole thing can be solved if someone will let me slightly over pay for a chrome 3R for a RB k frame. Trust me, this is how things work. As soon as I get one, thousands will suddenly become available. Probably at half price. So, if someone will step up to the plate and help me out this whole bad episode will go away. Be a HERO, do it for the forum,do it for the children, just do it.....Peoples jobs are at stake...YOU know you want to HELP.......That's a size 3R for a RB k frame, chrome or bronze, HURRY, it's up to YOU.

Wrangler5, resin should allow for a wide array of colors, cheaply made. Personally, I like anodised blue. If I'm going pimp, might as well go PIMP.

wrangler5,

I commend you sir. Hopefully it turns out well and the demand is there. Furthermore, perhaps at sometime down the road you can produce other models made of the same materials as the Tylers are now.

I have seen mention of hopefully soon they'll turn up from a Chinese outfit. Personally, I think we've lost enough American jobs. I'd rather pay another $15-20 and know my money is staying home than sending it (and a fellow Americans job) overseas.

Thanks for the (potential) support, Murphy. My initial foray is intended to provide a functional substitute for those who just want a gun with a standard grip/grip adapter. I am hoping it comes out of the mold ready to go for its intended purpose, with no hand finishing required. But the particular resin approach I'm starting with doesn't lend itself to metallic-looking finishes.

If the demand is there, I will explore other processes that offer more options as far as look and finish go. I have the impression that there are synthetics that can be molded to look like some metals, and which also will not require hand finishing. But setup and production costs are higher, which is why I'm not starting there. I do NOT want to look at products that require hand finishing except as a last resort: I can't help but wonder if the hand finishing step might be the one that broke the (Tyler) camel's back, so to speak, as it takes time and experience to do well, something the family successors might not have been ready, or willing, or even able, to do.

As far as cost is concerned, I'm planning to offer the resin models for less than the Tylers were charging. I'm still exploring packaging and shipping costs, but hope to be able to offer 'em at $20 delivered (plus sales tax for MO residents only.)

Dain Bramage, my initial resin process lends itself to individual color options without having to make big runs of things, so if the dye is available for a color you want I'm OK with it. I have experience with the black from products that a friend of mine makes, but don't know how blue or mustard gold (for example) colors might actually look. I'll experiment and report once I get rolling with the black ones.

I do know I can get dyes to make a translucent pink grip adapter, so if anybody wants a pink one that should be do-able.

Pwhphd and luangtom, and other who may be interested, I will post a notice here (maybe it should be in the for sale section - someone let me know if that's the preferred way to handle it) when I have product to ship and know final details on pricing and ordering. Until then, please keep your enthusiasm!

And thanks to everyone for your interest. It's most encouraging.

Love them Tylers and sold 3 in the last 12 months for under $30.00. I WILL NOT pay the outragous prices on them here on the forum or anywhere else. $50.00 plus is way too much money for me. Can buy a quality set of Ahrends grips for about the same money and can sand them down for a perfect fit.

Hope our resident machinist can start pumping them out for a reasonable price!

As a big fan of service stocks on my N-frames - grip adapters are frequently fitted to my revolvers. I currently own ten, and would be very interested in a reproduction. I need about ten more. I would like to see a true nickle finish, as the polished aluminum is quite a mismatch on a nickle revolver.

Default T-Grip Drama

I keep wonder why Smith & Wesson doesn't produce their own version of the T-Grip. With their aluminium metal injection moulding (MIM) technology it would seem to be an easy item to produce.

When you get things up and running then I would post your product in the vendor category as well.

And I am one of those guys that will pay too much for the right adapter. I just got an older version (no writing on it) perfect N frame aluminum polished tyler for $90 and I couldn't be happier. I just don't see them enough these days to think that the price wasn't fair. The market demands the price and if people are putting multiple bids on these things on e-bay for high prices than that is what they are worth.

I'd be up for some in wild colors.

Looks like even if the Tyler Co. does remain in business they are gonna lose a boat load of it. That's what ****** customer service gets ya. Eventually someone somewhere is gonna take up the slack. I knew that without having an MBA.

Wrangler5, if you are able to go into production with your product please keep everyone informed. I believe that there is market for these, in many different sizes and color options. Wishing you the best of luck!!

Sir, if you are planning on producing a grip to fit a S/B K frame anytime soon please let me know, and I will stop my E-bay hunt for a used Tyler product. I always want to help an U.S. based start up.

Default No Patent

Tyler can't have a patent on their T-Grip design even if they have a trademark. An older gentleman at the range last weekend had a Pachmayr add-on that served the exact same purpose and looked very similar except for the slight finger grooves of the T-Grip.

I ordered, and paid for, a T-Grip in mid-December of 2010. No grip, no contact, no voicemail, no refund. I am not happy.

T-grips is probably trademarked. You'll have to come up with a new name.

"Wrangler's grip adaptors, ribbed for your pleasure"

-Did you hear Old Man Wrangler kicked the bucket, and his descendants are partying and drinking the company into the ground?
-Yeah, Riblets are going for $5,000 on Mindlink.
-Wow! They're on sale!

I ordered, and paid for, a T-Grip in mid-December of 2010. No grip, no contact, no voicemail, no refund. I am not happy.
Did you file a complaint with the USPS?

https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/f...Complaint.aspx

User friendly, you can do it online.

They seem to be the only legal option we have available. Maybe enough complaints will get them moving and at least shut down Tyler's website.

It disturbing that people that are not aware of the situation are still mailing them checks (like me in December of 2010) and they are still cashing them.

Sir, if you are planning on producing a grip to fit a S/B K frame anytime soon please let me know, and I will stop my E-bay hunt for a used Tyler product. I always want to help an U.S. based start up.
Thanks for the good wishes, old bear. I don't think different colors will be a problem unless demand for a wide variety drives me nuts keeping orders straight. Oh well, as they say, we should all have such problems.

A square butt K frame adapter will be the next model I do, assuming the whole process produces an acceptable product. I THINK (desperately hope?) it will, but until I see the first unit out of a mold I won't know for sure. Hopefully that will happen next week, and the suspense is killing me.

Wrangler, I would buy 3 K framed black ones if you get this going... and maybe a few more in other sizes...

I hesitate to say this because I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but when I was buying T-Grips part of the attraction was using a vintage accessory with the original vintage S&W grips. I'm not sure I'd feel the same if it were polymer, even if the fit and finish were better than the Tyler products. I could be a universe of one.

Darn shame they are not being made. I like them alot but the prices people are asking are absolutley ridiculous for a pre drought $25.00-$30.00 unit. A case of supply and demand applies here. I would not pay a penny more than $50.00 and the ones coming up for sale are ALWAYS sold before I can hit the keystroke.

If anyone has a set for a J frame let me know!

Some just never get the word. This has been posted time and again, by me and others. You're not going to get your money back, and the Attorney General in Oklahoma City could care less. He refers everything to the U.S. Postal Inspector who puts them in a file. If perhaps a 1,000 dissatisfied people file a complaint, they might accidently take a look at it. You're just screwed. Me, myself, I'm out $160, and there's nothing to be done, except get the word out. They are bogus crooks.

Fella's,

It's gotten so bad I dang near bought a gun just to get the T Grip, I figured I could sell the T Grip and wind up with a heck of a bargain on a nice old S&W.

I went to a well-known local gun shop to see if they had any old T-grips laying around.

A younger salesman told me, "If we don't have it, I'm sure we can order it".

Yeah, right.

I then asked the owner, an older gentleman, a retired police officer, if he had any in the back room gathering dust.

He did not even know what a T-Grip was. This truly surprised me. I can understand the younger guy being oblivious.

Oh well....

I know the feeling! I live near Cabelas in Hoffman Estates, IL and I stop by a couple times a week to see what has shown up in the Gun Library. A nice old Smith with a T-Grip, I'll buy it!

several weeks ago I asked the same in a local gun shop. the salesman is about my age, late 40's. he lightens up and says he has a whole box of them in the back. sure enough he returns with a box full of tylers, still in their original boxes. upon close examination however I see that all of them are the trigger shoe inserts. I asked again about the grip adaptors and he looks at me funny and explains how he hasn't seen any of those in years. you know how silly of me to think otherwise.

jnewel,

how about a universe of two? I don't think I would be interested in plastic either. fortunately I have every size made and I can easily switch to the gun I am shooting. ... I do applaud wrangler for his efforts and I hope it works out. i think there will be a demand for this. if you can't replace the tyler with original material I feel like you. the look is a big part of it. in my opinion plastic would only serve a utility purpose and I think you get better utility going with a boot grip with the added appeal of a classic nice wood.

but again, not taking anything away from wrangler or trying to discourage. my hope is that this may lead others to take up the slack and bring these back on the market at a decent price.

I don't share the hopes of others that this company will ever get back on track. the original owner had a fine company and I have one of his originals. his company died long ago. what remains under the direction of these clowns that are feeding off his success is a total fraud and should be shut down asap.

Well, out of 6000 backorders, he now has it trimmed to 2700, and is shipping more out today and tomorrow, making batches of 200 at a time, mostly #1's in polished and black but has to switch off periodically to make them for K-frames and others as well....those of you seeing the t-grip as an investment had better start selling now if you want a profit....and all of you talking "they" as the business goes, it's one guy trying to keep this afloat since his dad died this past fall....from 6000 to 2700, by himself....

3,300 orders shipped and nobody here has reported that their T-Grip came in? I'm willing to give them a chance, even now, and yes, I have an order in myself, but that seems extremely unlikely.

Naturally, of 50% of orders shipped, many of those will be members of THIS forum?....you have a highly inflated opinion of how many people visit forums....actually, i BECAME a member of this forum mainly to update what showed here on a google search of t-grips, as the misinformation and whining was too much to stand...

Still not going to share that private cell phone number from *the man* so I can reassure myself that my order from December 1st, 2010 is one of the 3,300 being shipped.

Oh yeah, I'm one of the customers that's going to be punished for wanting the product I paid for!
Nice!

Well there are 77,000 members of this forum, there are 1,500 people on the forum right now. Someone buying a T-Grip adapter would more likely be considered an enthusiast as opposed to casual S&W owner, which would increase the chance of them being on this website.

But either way, you're frequently a source of sunshine.

It just hit me. 6,000 orders. Even if they were only for one $24 model each, that is still $144,000. Hire some extra bodies and stop making me pay $55 for a scratched up T-Grip. I went from feeling bad about the company, to being curious about how back ordered they would allow and still cash checks, to I'm incredulous they can't keep up. What am I missing here???
