Craig Spegel's work on a Baby Chiefs and a Model 31 (I-frame, but they also fit Model of '53 and later J-frames).

I bought some J frame grips at a gun show for my son's 36 (RB). Said he did not want them. For some reason thought these were popular. I don't own any J's. Bob

This is my 36 with Sambar Stags. Saw it in the LGS and figured they were plastic. Made a deal for the 36 for $300. Got it home and realized they were Sambar. Looked up the grips on line and found that they are worth almost what I paid for the whole thing.

My 640 with Altamonts. I tried a lot of grips before I found these to work for me. They’re actually more comfortable when shooting magnum loads than Goodyear’s.

Altamonts. Might get a set of their round to square grips also. Make it look like a baby L frame. 😊

I have a 637-2 2" which has factory S&W branded Crimson Trace grips. They work well, even taming the occasional +P's. Bought a 60-15 .357 3" with the sharp factory wood grips. Put a set of regular Crimson Trace on it, found +P's are ok, and .357 still is a bit too much, but it is a "light" gun.
Double-action on both is so smooth. The 60-15 is my "bedroom" gun, just waiting, forever, I hope. The 637-2 is my "if I need to carry" piece, easy to holster or pocket, depending on the situation, even with the exposed hammer.

These G Mascus grips are by Hogue, made with G10 Blue Lava.
I always liked the Spegel designed boots by Uncle Mike that came
on the 642-1, but they were just a wee bit "clingy". These are not.
BTW the knife is by Piranha and the holster by Chic Gaylord.

I realize that this is an older thread, but for my Model 49 Steel Bodyguard pocket snubby I would like some opinions as to whether I should go with Compac Pros or Altamont Falconias?
My two concerns are best pocket concealment and best comfort with heavy +P loads. I went with the Standard Service stocks with a Tyler T-grip for years but those do really bash my girly-hand after about 20 stout fast double-action shots. I am looking for a bit more comfort because I'm not planning on using weinie ammo for practice or carry.

Why shoot it so much? Not a target piece. I shoot my J frames about one or two cylinders a year for a function test and never more than 7 yards.

This 640-3 did have the Uncle Mikes Spegel Grips but I've changed them out with some Hogues for more comfort. (We don't have CCW here in Australia so it's not like I need to stick with shorter Grips for pocket carry).

That is very neat!
I don't recall seeing a 3" with an unfluted barrel. Would you be willing to share the first three characters of the serial number?
Thank you.

BFY8XXX
60-7
If I recall the big book puts the BFY Mfg. date at 1991
In the features on the label it says **SPECIAL**
I would assume this was a "customer special order"
I got it off an online auction site several years ago,
