Default My custom generic PC681

So a few weeks ago I sent my 681 in to SW for the M Modification , I called the PC center and asked them ...If they could put a snub nose barrel on it. The PC guys called me back and said that a 686 snub barrel would not work because of the front sight . But....he did have an extra PC681 barrel. I said "Do It"! Put it on. I had the gun taken apart , all springs gone over , cylinder chambers chamferrd and polished and a red ramp installed. I love this revolver. It's not a real PC681 but it is it's generic equivalent.

PC also put a trigger stop on.

Wow. I like. Wonder if they have any more of those barrels in the supply room?

Dog,

VERY nice imo. Thanks for sharing the pics. I do have a question though.

Are you thinking of lettering this or do you have other documentation from Smith? Reason I'm asking is that over the years, the comment, "with Smith you never know" has cropped up lots of times here. I have a somewhat unusual 627PC with a factory fluted cylinder for example, and there are multiple, multiple stories of uncataloged models.

So...how do you "verify" this? NOT trying to flame you out, the revolver is awesome and I'd love to have one like it, but I'm curious as to how one would verify information from Smith about a "special" build?

Please advise your thoughts and thanks for sharing pics of a VERY nice combat blaster.

Guess that is what I was asking. Imo that should certainly satisfy any but the most picky of "true collectors".

Spegel would be a good choice.

Well this project started out as a snub and ended with what you see.

My new project will be to make my 681 snub...... Stay tuned.

I have the receipt. What does lettering entail and is it a good idea to have?

If you find the brass bead front sight you want I'll buy that insert front from you. PM or e-mail at: [email protected]

Thanks,

I would go with Lobo for leather. Probably either an Enhanced Pancake or an Avenger. I have several Pancakes, I may go with Avengers on my next couple from Ray just to try them out.
Lobo Gun Leather - Home

Grips I would go direct to Altamont for a set of Super Rosewood Checkered Finger Groove Boot Grips, and add the Optional S&W Medallions. Great price, fast delivery, and they look great. I have 3 sets total. Two S&W and one set direct with Medallions. Thats right the S&W Altamonts do not have Medallions installed.
http://www.altamontco.com/
Go to Smith & Wesson, K/L Frame, then go to the bottom Left side of the Page. You can select Wood with the Arrow. Then Add Medallions $48 Grips Plus $10 for Medallions =$58 and Shipping.

I have a different one also. a 66-2 with 3 Inch Barrel, Black Blade Front Sight, Solid Black Rear Sight, Ball Loc, and Factory DAO with a butter smooth trigger stroke. The cylinder spins like it is on Roller Bearings. The Kicker is the Non Standard front sight PIN looks factory original. The Bead Blast on the Pin matches the Bead Blast on the sight perfectly. My best guess is a Special Order from the Custom Shop. The Serial Number is correct for a 1985 Ashland.

I got it as the Perfect Concealed Carry Revolver. If I Letter It, I might have to put it away.

Great Project Gun by the way. Nothing much to improve on.

Bob
