I don't care if its not practical, or if I am the only one that wants one. It doesn't change the fact that since they made the X frame I have thought about an 8-shot X frame 44.

mmmmh.... 8 rounds of 44 magnum.

Thanks for listening.

Supposedly there was a 7 shot 44MAG X-Frame ready for production (no room for 8 shots).

Shorty cylinder and all.

From the sounds of it, the project has been shelved indefinitely :(

Can you imagine "S&W X-frame only" 44 mag loads. The Ruger guys would be irritated.

If the 460 shoots the 454 and 45 colt , then would an x- frame shooting something like a .444 marlin or new caliber variant that would allow .44 mags to be chambered . Not sure if they are the same bullet diameter , but it might be an interesting idea for a wrist breaking gun but a mid recoiling .44 .

I wouldn't be irritated at all. It might make Ruger finally do the Redhawk update that the Super Redhawk should have been.

.444 Marlin is the same .429 bullets but the OAL is around 2.570"... Is the X frame cylinder that long??? If it is then as long as flame cutting like the .357 Maximum didn't kill the gun that might be a crazy idea...

A Desert Eagle is 8 rounds of .44 magnum in an autoloader. Frame size is probably about that of an X Frame. It can even convert to a .357 magnum that holds 10 rounds. Why limit yourself to one caliber ?

But I am sooo a revolver guy.

Loved my DE, hated how it launched brass into the next area code, or right at my forehead.

It had a tenancy to bulge brass at the base and it would chew-up and/or dent brass badly.

Still was a lot of fun at the range :D
