Nope, not quite.

It can be found in this thread.

Finally I found what that Galco holster was made for by running the search by holster instead of by gun. It was made for a 327 with a 2.5" barrel, which is the extra .125" that the barrel sticks out in the pic above on the 627. No biggie.

Anybody out there using this with an N Frame, how do you like it?

Here is one of my pair of 2 5/8" PC627's in a custom Lobo Leather holster.

The holster was reasonable - much less than the S&W/Galco pictured. He has other styles, too - I bought the 'least expensive' model to see what his 'quality' was like - I was impressed!

I have the Galco Silohuette for the K/L frame and the N frame and think they are a very good value. IMO one plus is the open bottom, I can use the same holster for my 6 1/2 inch 610 or my 4 inch 625 JM. However, it does ride high enough that drawing that 610 feels like you are reaching into your arm pit. While that's a bit of an exageration, it's not a good choice for a fast draw with a long barrel. However, with a 2 5/8 inch barrel it won't be a problem at all, mine work well with a 4 inch barrel.

Scooter 123, I was told by an owner of the Galco High ride using his PC 627 with the short (2.625" barrel) that:

"I wouldn't recommend that holster for the short barrel. Gun rides too high in it and flops around too much with the shorter barrel. The gun really just isn't supported enough with the short barrel and how much it weighs."

Is that your experience as well?

I'm not Scooter 123, but I'm going to guess that a key part of the equation is the type of belt you are using. A typical department store leather belt (even a thick one) is not going to cut it. A real "gunbelt" from the likes of Milt Sparks, The Beltman, etc., is going to be necessary to properly carry a 627. I certainly wouldn't want to be relying on the longer barrel digging into my hip or leg to stabilize the gun.

My concern with open-bottom outside the waistband (OWB) holsters is the exposed crown. I don't want to damage the crown by bumping into something or while sitting down.

I second the recommendation to give Lobo Gunleather a try. I have two of Ray's holsters that I am very satisfied with.

The Silohuette is a retention holster that uses a thumb break snap, so I'm not buying that statement about the gun "flopping around" in the holster. I'm inclined to suspect that 47D has nailed the problem, a poor belt was used. IMO a good gunbelt is a key factor in comfort that carrying a holstered handgun and those who try and "get by" with department store belts won't ever find comfort. I've been exclusively using Galco products because IMO they are very well made and I can get them "off the rack" at 2 local gunshops so I never have to wait on a custom order. Currently I've got 3 years of daily use on a Galco gunbelt and from the the way it's held up I suspect I won't have to replace it for another 10 or 15 years. Yeah, the 40 dollar cost for that belt was a shocker, but if I get 10 or 15 years of good use from it I expect that it will be the least expensive belt I've ever purchased.
