16-4 .327 Conversion ??

I have a 4" 16-4 and am thinking about the Bowen conversion to .327. I know some on the board have done this. Did it affect accuracy at all. My gun is a tackdriver with the .32 foicci wadcutters and wouldn't want to lose that with the conversion. Also how much do they charge for that? Any signs of high pressure when shooting .327s? Thanks for the advice.

I didn't convert my 16, but I had one built by Hamilton Bowen on a Pre Model 14 frame using a rechambered Model 17 Cylinder (so it would be recessed like all good magnums should be) and a Model 16 8-3/8" barrel. Accuracy is excellent and no problems so far. If you want to convert yours, I would suggest just renting a reamer. It's only a few hairs difference.

I have a 327 reamer I used on a Ruger. It worked great. I haven't gotten the courage up to do that to my 16-4.

I would be happy to loan it out for the cost of mailing.

Hamilton Bowen did the 327 conversion on my 16-4 cylinder. If I remember correctly, he charged about $95.

I sent him my 16-4 cylinder to be converted along with a 632 cylinder that I needed reamed due to undersized throats; don't know if he cut me any break on the price because of the two jobs.

He responded very quickly to my emails; just shoot one off to him to get the price.

I did not notice any drop off in accuracy shooting 32 magnums; if anything, it might have shot better.

There are a couple different reamer rental companies. Just do a google search. 4-D comes to mind, but there are others.
