Front site ramp w/ Tritium Night Sight (like 586L Comp) otherwise available for 627?
Is the front site ramp with Tritium Dot Night Sight, such as the one that comes standard on the 586 L Comp, is it available for purchase for my Performance Center 627 (2.625” barrel UDR)?
Will it install without modification?
How can I obtain one?
If this is not possible, how can I get night sites on my weapon?
THANKS
P.S. Wow, have you see pics of that 586 L Comp? Nice.

I'm not familiar with the 586 L Comp. However I have looked into equipping my model 67 with night sights since it's a "house gun". Meprolight offers a night sight kit for the S&W revolver that uses a tritium insert that is pressed into the dovetail for the red insert in a red ramp sight and a rear sight blade with tritium inserts. Below is a link to that kit.
As for actually finding that kit for sale, the US representative for Meprolight is Kimber, second link. If you click the Buy it Now button you'll be taken to the Kimber Dealer page. From their you are on your own and I wish you luck, just because it's in the catalog doesn't mean it's easy to find. BTW, second try showed some success, try the third link, however I see no indication of whether they are actually in stock so I would suggest a phone call.

I've got a 586 L-Comp and I'm not all that impressed with the front night sight. The tritium insert is small and dim. I'll probably be replacing it with a brass or gold bead.
If you're set on a night sight for your revolver, look into the XS big dot sights that they put on the Night Guard series. I had a 315NG and that sight was much easier to see and use than the one on the L-Comp.

Wow, thanks scooter123!! I found an LE distributor here in AL listed on your link I'm well familiar due to our agency's relationship with them.

I have a set of the Meprolight sights on a 3" 686+ and they are pretty effective.

I have a set of the Meprolight sights on a three inch 629. I bought it used and they were on it. They are ok, just not my style. If you were closer to Wyoming and new how to swap them out, they could be yours.

I don't believe the replacement for the "red insert"-type front will work for the 627 UDR. It's a different front sight.
A red insert looks like this:
The UDR front sight looks like this (picts stolen from XTrooper):
I have a 19-7 K-Comp that uses a similar front sight as some of the the 586 L-Comps (and is the most similar to the dovetail mounting style used on the UDR):
However, the dovetail is a different size than on my 627 UDR and the sights would not interchange.

Why is the model PC 627 UDR front sight slightly to the right of center?
Its like that on mine too.

I tried finding a replacement dove-tail front sight in S&Ws parts catalog. Before that I had thought Brownells web site made things hard to find. They could take lessons from S&W. (LOL)
