I am shopping for a specific era K-22 if it exists. I can live with blue or SS but want one AFTER they did away with the alignment pins in the ratchet, and in a 6 shot, NOT a 10 shot. (I want the new style ratchet)
Can someone advise if they made a K-22 like this, and if so, is there a 17- or 617- number that would designate the change in extractor and rachet. I know this will probably take me into the MIM parts and the new frames with the cylinder retaining stud built into the frame, and that is OK. I am trying to create a search for the auction sites for what I am looking for, and if there is a dash number for this variation that would help.
The standard reference mentions "change extractor" with the 17-7 and the 617-1, but it doesn't specify if this involved the pins. No mention of the ratchet. The current model 17 or 18 Classic may be what you seek. In a used gun, probably best to look for one of these models or later, then ask questions and for photos.
On my 649 made in 1997, after the change to the new extractor in 1994, it had the new style extractor without the alignment pins, I assumed that this was the style that he wanted, and that change extractor meant to this new style extractor without alignment pins.
Not good to assume, and not always the same.
Here are pics of the extractor on my 1997 649
