Default I GOT ONE, 586 THAT IS

Was looking on Gunbroker yesterday and saw a Model 586, no dash, 6 inch barrel, with a starting price of $399.00. It also had diamond Magnas on it, which of course are not correct, but that didn't stop me from bidding. Turns out I was the only bidder and got it for $399.00 plus shipping. Some bluing wear, but not enough to turn me off.

I was thinking of getting it for our son, who had his home broken into during late summer , and they got a 586, a 617-1, a 16-4, and a couple of other guns, all of which I had bought for him.

Once I get it and clean it up and go through it to make sure everything is okay, it's going to the range. I will then decide whether I want to give it to him or keep it myself, as he will get all my guns anyway, when I pass on. It's not like he needs it, as I bought him a Model 10 shortly after the burglary so he had a house gun, and I'm thinking of giving him one of my Model 64's also. Besides, it will go well with my 686.

Post pics when you get it, for 399.99 can not go wrong, even if its got a lot of wear.

Nice catch Bill, Should be a very accurate gun. I've always liked the looks of the 586 especially the 4". The grips make it a sweeter deal. Larry

Great deal! I recently traded into a 586 no dash 4incher. Very clean gun that was fired less than 50 rounds. I've got $450 into mine. A good shooter! I think that you have the right idea having the 586 keeping the 686 company! I would like a 686 to keep mine company. Enjoy your purchase. Bob

No offense, but its better to let people acquire their own guns.

They tend to take better care of them, and they really appreciate it later in life when you give them something.

I never got a thing useful as a gift or inheritance, and later in life when I finnally did I really appreciated what I did get, not for its value but for the thoughtfullness of the deceased. Futhermore, I liked getting it on my own.

Sounds like a great deal. I sold a 586 6" no dash in VG condition about a year ago for $500 without a blink. Traded a dash-1 for another gun and got about the same in trade value.

I will post pics when I get it. Our son had a safe, if you want to call it that, more like a security locker. He had the keys on the kitchen counter, so the burglar had no problem getting into it. Son was sleeping upstairs and had a room air conditioner running, so he never heard a thing.
