Default What is a fair price for this Model 29?

A buddy of mine needs some money so he is wanting me to buy this Model 29. It has the box but the tools and inner cardboard are missing. It comes with a T grip and some faux ivories with medallions. It is nice but I don't think I would ever use it. What do you think is a fair price for this gun?

In my neck of the woods would estimate $550-575.

Id guess in the LGS it would be be $850-$950.

Might sit for a while but it will sell.

Its quite a desirable model

Things do tend to bring top dollar around here

I gotta go with wheelgun28 here. The short barrels are at a premium these days. If it were anywhere in the $500 range, I'd give blood for it!!

Still, in a friend to friend transaction I think $550 would be about right. He can get more for it but it would be much more trouble to do so. This gun would be a good investment for the buyer as these Smiths from the late 80s and early 90s have yet to really take of in value.

That gun would bring 750 in an instant on GB or on this site. The buyer pays shipping anyway.

How much you offer depends on how good a friend you are? :dunno:

We were able to come to terms. I gave him a nice 4" Model 19 and some cash. He already has a guy who wants the 19. That will get him out of the 29 at the break even point.

I asked him if he wanted me to keep the 29 so he could buy it back but he was non committal. He is raising cash to replace his central heat and air unit.

I think I got the 29 at about the break even point value wise so I guess everything is alright. Seems like guns just go in a circle in this town almost like checking books out of the library ;^)
