Is it just me who thinks the bearpaws on the cylinder look real stupid.I like the gun its just the paws that stop me from buying.

I agree that they look kind of stupid. However, the unfluted cylinder (no gain in strength, but more stress on notches and the stop) bothers me a lot more. Still, if you like the gun otherwise, just buy it, and blame the esthetics on the factory. I don't even really care for "Backpacker" on the barrel, even though it is more or less appropriate.

Taken along with the head on the frame I think it all kinda goes together.

I'm with you the bear tracks are kinda cartoonish. Stopped me from buying one also. I'm sure a quick trip through the bead blaster would take care of them, don't think that they are laser etched but I maybe wrong.

Too cutesy for me. If they were engraved... possibly okay. A wire brush on a drill or maybe some 00 steel wool would clean 'em up no doubt. Not a fan of unfluted cylinders or the big name on the side either... Life is too short to own an ugly or inaccurate gun. That is what makes it all fun... the individuality of the power of choice. Go 629PC. Better gun. No silly laser etched bear tracks... It was in the running when I was shopping for 44Mag snub but lost out to the 629PC.

The best solution is to get an old one like me still has Alaskan backpacker on the barrel and only a small tasteful bear and a couple trees on the side.

Ya know these things limit sales to just a few so......as we all know when just a few sell....some years form now they'll be worth their weight in gold. But I can't wait that long.
