S&W doesn't list any custom holsters on their website for the 627 PC 2.6" model. A search online also did not return any helpful info. Should I just buy a holster for a standard 3" revolver or there are some custom holsters out there for the 2.6" PC version (it's a 8 shot)? What do you guys use for your 627 PC 2.6"? (pictures please?) I am looking for belt or IWB holster, maybe even a pocket holster (for cargo pants).
Thanks!

Lobo Gun Leather - Home

I found a few here who suggested Lobo Leather. I ordered from them. Expecting delivery in the next couple of weeks. They currently have a 5-6 week build / wait.

627 UDR

I use a Destantis OBH with thumb snap and Speed Loader Holders with 5 Star speed Loaders.

Lobo custom makes them. You pick the style and any options you want and they will make it for you. I ordered the pancake style snap loop with thumb break and smooth leather lining as an option. You really have to look over their web site well. Look at the FAQ's page etc.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the Galco Combat Master for 2.5" N frames. It is the CM134 in tan or CM134B in black. Retails for $82.95 but routinely sells for about $15-$20 less than that. I have no doubt that the Lobo is a slightly nicer product, but the Galco is available without waiting for considerably less money, and it fits the gun quite nicely. I have 5 different Combat Masters for a variety of different J, K, L, and N frames in barrel lengths from 1 7/8" to 4". Great product for the money.

Thanks, I will check those two websites.

Makes me think you got the wrong holster. There is no reason why a 2.5" revolver would not fit in a 3" holster for the same model. It should fit just fine except you would have about 1/2" of unused holster at the bottom. I don't have any 3" holsters or guns, but my 2.5" guns fit in my 4" holsters (only the barrel is shorter than the holster) and my 4" guns fit in my 2.5" holsters (only the barrel hangs out the bottom of the holster).

The 627 has a larger 8 shots cylinder, maybe that's why the holster doesn't fit?

The 8 shot cylinder is the same diameter as the cylinder on every other N frame...more holes closer together in the same amount of space. Think about it...if the cylinder was larger, it wouldn't fit in the standard cylinder window of the N frame.

Just got the email. My Lobo holster shipped today. Should get it in a few days. I'll let you know how it works out.

This says it all.

A custom holster grips the revolver mainly by the cylinder. The barrel has relatively little effect, as long as there is enough clearance for the sight. In that regard, I've had poor results from sewn sight rails. They invariably warp and drag on the substantial ramp and blade of Smith revolvers.

I have Alessi CQC (pancake) holsters for 4" L and N frames, which work well with shorter barrels. Pancake holsters are very comfortable and relatively concealable if you can cover the muzzle. It's not necessary to have a snap for retention, but it's an option if that makes you comfortable (or compliant).

IWB holsters are an option for barrels 3" or less. I have a VM2 for a 3" 686. With a boot grip, it disappears when I put it on.

Avoid holsters with excessive high ride. They tend to be floppy, and require some contortion to draw.

I have the 44 Mag version of the same gun, the 629PC. I carry it in a Simply Rugged pancake. Great holster.....and gun.

Sorry for the delay. Got my Lobo snap loop holster but had a problem. The snaps were very "soft". They kept unsnapping at all the wrong times. I emailed Ray at Lobo and he said he was having issues with his supplier. They sent him the wrong ones. Sent the holster back and he replaced the snaps for me. Even gave me a discount on my next purchase. Not to take advantage of the guy but I do like his work. I ordered another one for my 625JM. Great holsters. Ray stands by his work. Big thumbs up from me.

I have searched high and low for a holster for this same gun, and have come to the conclusion that for the money, you can not beat Lobo. I know a lot of guys love Simply Rugged, but to me they look a little home made. Lobo stuff is top notch and can be had at prices lower than Galco or DeSantis in many cases. Yeah you have to wait a little, but remember the old saying...anything worth having is worth waiting for.

I thought the same thing about Simply Rugged holsters.
I could not find a holster for my WC GP100 in 2013 that I could afford or would arrive in time for me to qualify with except a Simply Rugged. It seemed like everyone was pushing the Simply Rugged Kool Aid so I had a sip.
When my holster arrived to say I was not impressed would be an understatement. It just looked like something stitched together in between making other stuff. Like it came from a craft fair, but with quality leather.
What I have found is that over time this holster forms very nicely to the revolver, stays in position on the belt well, stays open for reholstering and has not worn noticeably after being used as my off duty holster every weekend and carried daily for the last three months. I can conceal my GP 100 under a T-shirt with this holster.
I have other holsters now like a Kramer vertical scabbard and some custom kydex but I keep using the Simply Rugged.

I am not disparaging anyone's choice. Just pointing out that Simply Rugged holsters are not pretty but they are well worth every penny in my opinion.

My Simply Rugged Pancake holster for my 627PC showed last week. Took 3 weeks from the day I ordered it to have it on my waist.

I have the same holster for my L Frame Snubbys and love it. But OWB isn't my preferred way to carry. I like IWB considerably more. A gun just feels more secure IWB with the right holster in my opinion. When I carry OWB I definitely feel the weight of the gun hanging off my hip. Not so with a good IWB holster and carry belt.

I ordered a Tucker Gun Leather Texas Heritage IWB over the weekend. I should have it in a few weeks. Normally it takes 5 weeks, but I paid extra to expedite it. Hopefully it will come pretty quickly.

Here is my 686PC 2.5" in the Texas Heritage with a Tucker Basic Carry Belt. All my L Frame Snubby's ride in it. It is a dream to carry. I distributes the weight so well, I don't even know it is on my waist, even with a 40 oz gun! Looking forward to getting the one I ordered for my 627.

In my opinion, the Texas Heritage from Tucker Gun Leather is the better holster for the money for IWB. See my re-post above.

I agree with you on the Simply Rugged looking home made. But for $60 it is a great deal and holds the gun nice and tight to your body with a proper Carry Belt and rides in the perfect position with ideal placement.
