no lock revolvers with "extra" hole?
I have seen numerous pictures of "no lock" revolvers, specifically M&P 340s that appear to have the tiny hole where the internal lock pivoted. Did S&W just fill or neglect to machine the large hole for the lock but leave the little hole in the side of the gun? Hoping to get a "no lock" gun if more ever become available and would like to know the details - Thanks

Can't comment on the 340 but I've a 442 NL and it does not have a hole where the lock would be.

I just inspected my 6 month old no-lock 340 M&P and found no such tiny hole.

Thanks for the replies- even on the Smith and Wesson web site there appears to be the tiny hole in the L hand side where the flag would pivot on the "no lock" gun. I suspect it was a bad photoshop job but wanted to know for sure.
Now if I can only locate a "no lock" M&P 340 for sale- have had two on order since July.

In my experience there either IS a hole and I/L or there is NOT - nothing in between.
If you want a S&W with no I/L you do not have to wait - - it might be a very long wait. Simply log onto Gunbroker, or many of the other websites (including this one) and buy yourself a good used S&W. Problem solved!

The M&P 340 has pins or studs which can be seen on the left side because they are made of a different material than the frame. Is that what you are seeing?

The pics in this auction show 3 pins on the left side. The one the OP refers to looks about the right place for the hammer pivot pin.

No horse is too dead to kick! I just bought my first interlock Smith, model 25-15 in .45 LC and love the gun as much as all my other non-interlock Smith's. I confess I went to TK Custom and bought a polished black plug to fill hole. Ezzy Yeezy fix! It's a quality Smith that I said I would never buy. Dangerous words; never and always.

I have an M&P340 that came with the lock. I removed it around ten or twelve years ago. This is my EDC and it actually does travel with me every day. Never had any issues with it. Never had any problems when the lock was there. I removed it mostly because I couldn't see having a part on my pistol that was never going to be used.
