Should I polish this revolver or leave it in satin stainless?

Only you can make that decision. If it's for just range use and a BBQ or two you may want to polish. If it is intended for carry, you would probably want to retain the non-reflective brushed finish.

Leave it. I could never understand why someone would buy a gun because they like what they see, like the gun, like what it can do and then want to change it.

It's human nature to personalize items that we hold dear. If you get any scratches or dings and want to polish them out, you are gonna need to polish the entire gun anyway so it will match. I like a polished gun in and out of the woods. I find they're are easier to maintain and dirt and powder doesn't stick to the finish as much.

If the original satin finish is in really good condition, I would leave it as is. However, if the revolver has a lot of small scratches and scuffs on it, then I would consider polishing it. It's really up to the owner to make the decision.

I find the high polish shows smudges and fingerprints more. Any modification does seem to take away from the value.

It's yours, do what makes you happy, BUT when you polish it, you always be polishing it to bring back the shine. I myself polishes my mine, but it shows finger prints and smudges, but they just wipe off with a rag.
You make the decision, it's your weapon.

Thumbs up 686 finish

I sometimes polish out small marks and scratches on my 686 and then use a green scotchguard pad to restore the factory finish. I am getting so good at it that as I compare it to my S&W500 that I have never polished.......I cant tell the difference between the two finishes...........
