My 442 Pro has the loose locking bolt pin problem. I can move the pin with my thumb nail. I called S&W and they sent me a new spring, bolt, and pin. I put the new bolt and pin in and it still is loose. I peened the pin a little and it helped but the pins in my other J frames are rock solid. Should I send it back and let S&W fix it or is it ok being a little loose. Thanks for your opinions.

Personally I wouldn't leave it loose. More than likely if you send it in all they will do is peen the pin and ship it back to you. I don't like sending my guns off for things I can do myself. I'd probably just peen it a bit more on each end and see if that cures it. A little goes a long way so go light and recheck until you're satisfied.

Take the pin out and put a small bend in it. Reinstall, and you will be good to go. I have seen this on many newer J frames.
