Question on 940 firing pin...

Picked up a very clean S&W 940 3" yesterday...unfortunately it looks like the firing pin is broken in half or the spring is shot as when pointed down the fining pin nose comes through the frame.

In looking there "was" a specific firing pin for these models:

UPC #: 197706818282
Product #: 818282

...but shows "discontinued"

Anyone know if this firing pin was specific to the 940 or will any J-frame frame mounted firing pin work...

I don't know the answer to your question.

I bought a 940 with a broken firing pin. The seller didn't know and
was willing to refund my money, including shipping.

Instead, I contacted Smith & Wesson, and the company replaced
the firing pin with no charge, plus free shipping both ways.

The 940 firing pin (S&W PN# 212970000) was unique to this model, per the S&W parts catalog, & is different from the common J-frame firing pin (#229520000).

Received a letter last week stating the repairs and return shipping would be $58.00...called and paid by CC... CS rep said is would be 2-4 more weeks...
