I own a lot of S&W revolvers. For overall elegance and balance in the hand, it is very hard to beat the 66-2. Dressing it up is fun, too. Which grips would you pick, and why?

Option 1, Target Stocks

Option 2, Presentation Stocks

Option 3, Combat Grips

Option 4, Factory Magnas

Option 5, Magnas + Tyler T-grip

I suppose the only thing that would make this better would be to have a different 66-2 for each option. That aside, which do you like best?

I like option #1 target stocks is way to go, just a classic look, IMO

I agree! #1!

That being said, (And, none of you are within a stone's throw from where I'm currently sitting. So, I'm not worried about being pelted!) my 66 4" wears Hogue rubbers. As does my 66 2.5". They aren't nearly as classy, but damn, they feel good in my hands!

S&W Combats

I like the S&W Combat grips out of all the factory grips because they feel good in the hand and they look good. There is also a little pride involved in wearing $175 grips on your handgun.

First choice, Targets, second choice, Presentation stocks. Imho, magnas don't belong on a 4" or 6" 66 or 19, they came from the factory wearing target stocks, and magnas don't look right to me. Besides, magnas are just too small for my hands, and I never cared for grip adapters, either aesthetically or for the feel. YMMV, of course!

As I said on another thread, these great guns - like all pre-MIM, pre-IL, square-butt, grooved grip frame S&Ws - are no longer made so I think they should be kept as original as possible. I shoot all but one of my S&Ws at paper, so the only changes I make to a gun like that are a target hammer and trigger and, for the ones I shoot a lot, a Millett rear sight.

But like my changes, stocks are easily replaced and don't permanently devalue the gun so it's really up to you and your hand.

I still have my old duty 66-1 from the early '80's. The whole time I lived with it, everyday for about 10 years, it wore some form of Pachmayrs, and the issued speedloader-cutout Targets went away in an a trade involving a box of stuff.
For many years, I left it just as I carried it everyday, with the Pachs. Seemed right.
But recently, did acquire a set of correct Targets from a forum member here and have returned her to original grip status. She's had a hard life, but I'll be keepin' her. We went through alot together.

Another heretic in the group: Uncle Mike's finger grooves for a 4 incher if you are a serious shooter. S&W targets for a 6 incher for the classic look.

My current preference for K frames is magnas with a BK grip adapter, this combo feels good in my hand, is not to bulky for CCW, and looks good.

I agree with this statement.

Hard to choose, they all look great to me. Where would I purchase grips like those in the OP? Are they still available? I have a 13-2 that has the same frame I believe.

I voted magna with t grip but I like them and the targets equally. I recently ordered a t grip and a set of altamonts for a j frame.
