One question from the experts here. Would this gun have had the grips numbered to the gun during the time period? S310xxx. I haven't taken them off yet, by looking at the screw heads they don't look like they have been off the gun.

Hello,
Nice Model 27. I believe that S&W stopped numbering stocks in the mid to late 60's IIRC. Certainly worth a look at yours.

If you think the finish on that 27 looks good now, wipe that oil off it and put some Renaissance Wax on instead. The 3.5 inch 27s are very special guns. I love mine!

Very nice find! I hope to get a nickel one with all the goodies at sometime.
You may want to have the mods put it in the correct date section to get more comments.

66, I just did what you said with the Ren wax. You are 100% on that tip. Makes all the difference in the world. Makes me want to take some more pictures now! Thanks.
With Ren waxed finish. Hehe.

Update: the stocks are not numbered on this one. The only markings on the grips are "DE" and "SS" and this is in the lower part of only one of the grips. The other had nothing on it.

That looks good, but you're not done until you hit it with Flitz on a dremel wheel!
Seriously, it looks like a pool of crude oil. In a good way.

OK that is one barrel length, there are more, just one 27-2 is not enough. Don't ask me how I know this...

That's the ticket. Once you get used to the way it looks with Renaissance Wax, you'll never go back to oil. The 27 has such a wonderful, high polish finish, and the wax brings it out like nothing else.

That is a great looking model 27. The 3.5 inch barrel length is my favorite.

I am sure you are right, but I don't think I am going the dremel route, I am afraid I would screw it up!

I am going to try that on my Pythons as well. It sure made the 27 look better.
