I have had a Thunder Ranch Revolver Model 22 for quite some time. I think they are cool firearms.

Some of the original revolvers shipped with the wrong front sight but S&W changed the sights for anyone that had the problem. They picked up round trip shipping as well since it was a warranty issue.

Mine shoots good and looks good. I did change the grips to a set of targets, but that is a personal preference

I have a thing for serial numbers, so my Thunder Ranch Revolver Model 22 will never be sold as long as I have the strength to pull a trigger. This photo should tell you why

My TR 22-4 has become one of my favorite guns ever! The SA trigger breaks like a glass rod and the DA is very smooth and easily staged making it very easy to fire accurate rapid fire. The fit and finish is very high quality. The grips, however were instantly replaced with fancy wood Hogues, as Magnas just don't work with size XL hands.

NOTE about my TR 22-4- Being one of the first 500 produced, it was part of the batch which left the factory with incorrect height front sight and barrels which were not torqued correctly, causing shots to hit eight inches left and two feet below point of aim at 50 feet. I think the problem is why the original owner traded it. No problem- an email to Springfield MA with pictures of my test targets and
S&W sent a Fed Ex label. I had the repaired gun back in under 10 days start to finish-no charge.

Add 300 to yours and you have my serial number!

As Colt_saa mentioned, there's always a chance to get one with iffy sights. But if you get a copy with good sights or bother to get bad ones fixed they can be great.

I just wanted something a bit thicker than the stock grips -

ETA: They can make a perfect field sidearm in rattlesnake country.

Were it not for the lock, it would be absolutely perfect. I am very fond of the old-style, fixed sight, large frame revolvers. Mine shoots great and is quite accurate. I've had it for years, and I don't see parting with it any time soon.

My TR 45 is a great shooter, likes 230 grain bullets and 231 especially. Shoots POA and has a good action. Carry it in a Mernickle Performance Series holster. Carry 230 Hydra Shoks for PD.
