Default refinishing a model 64

Hello,

I recently bought my first revolver. I have a number of other pistols and rifles, but finally added a revolver. It is a Model 64-7 police/security turn-in, and I couldn't pass it up at the price I got it. It functions perfectly, but has a little wear. Being SS, I decided to start with just polishing it. I figured that if I don't like the result, I have access to a bead blaster and can go that route.

I started with the cylinder, and all has gone well (using Mothers Mag polish). I do however have a couple questions about some other parts.

I plan on not polishing the top for glare reasons, but is there anything else I should be careful of besides the laser cut trademark?

What do people usually do about the screws? Polishing over them seems a bit strange, and if I take them out to polish I would worry about cramming polish in the holes. (same issue for the internal lock keyhole)

My gun has a MIM trigger and hammer that have a dark (case hardened?) finish. Can or should these be polished? I don't especially like the look, but it doesn't bother me too much either. I just don't know if the "finish" can be polished or not.

Thank you for your help and suggestions!

Good questions.
For the sideplate screws, I keep a separate set of the flush screws to serve during polishing.
On the flat areas, I use a very small "sanding block" made of aluminum to avoid dishing out the engraving.
Don't touch the hammer and trigger.
A beater ex-leo 64 I polished a while ago:
