Fixed Sight Blue Steel
Living in South Florida, my EDC is usually a 3" Model 65...but I appreciate Fixed Sight Blue Steel Revolvers. I am very pleased to own these two: Model 581 and Model 13. Thanks for looking!

Nice looking examples of superb fighting revolvers. I genuinely prefer and shoot better with fixed sights myself...

Great pair of fixed sight revolvers. I've got a couple of 3" model 13's but have not been lucky in finding a good model 581 so far.
Thanks for sharing the pics.

I agree with you 100%. Mine are a model 64 in 38 special and a model 58 in 41 mag. Both have 4 inch barrels . Love em both.
My avatar is the 58 with Ahrends retro combats. Like these grips too.

Two beautiful guns. The fixed sight K frames are my favorites. I'm sure I'd love a 581/681 and a 58 also.

As much as I like the business like appearance of fixed sights on a DA revolver I'm honest enough to admit my aging eyes can't pick them up very well, or very quickly.
Even worse than the small rear notches, those gently sloping front sights just disappear in many lighting conditions. And before anyone suggests it, yes I do paint them but that sloping design also allows the front to drag on the holster and that wears off the paint muy pronto!
I picked up a shooter grade 681 a while back and I'm working with a local smith to try and retain the fixed sights but make them "visible" to my mid-60s eyeballs. If it works I'll take pictures and do a range test here. If it doesn't work...it'll just make me feel old. (LOL)

Nice revolvers. I picked up a 581 no-dash this week (see post titled Model 581 Purchase). I agree with you about the fixed sights.

I've been very satisfied with my 22-4. I thought the fixed sights might severely limit my choice of bullets. But I filed the front sight so 452423 was dead on and found bullets as light as 200 and as heavy as 250gr hit close to the point of aim at 25 yds.

The fixed sight L or K frame(or even the 520 N frame) are the quintessential combat revolvers. In 1969 I lost a gun fight because I had bumped the rear sight on my new M19 snub(meaning the BG got to shoot at me while I perfected the concept of tactical evasive scrambling). Damn thing was shooting 5 inches to to the left of where I had carefully sighted it. Since that day I have carried nothing but fixed sight handguns for serious social discourse. Haven't lost a fight since. Fixed sights are the way to go pistol or revolver, just MHO.
Blue steel and fixed sights, add in real walnut stocks and you are there, top of the heap as far as I am concerned. I do make exception for stainless steel, but most of my stainless guns have been made black.
