Default Engraved 29-10 possible trade question

So last year I picked up a 29-10 4 inch engraved, and its been a grwat pistol. I have some ivory magnas for it, and its a sweet gun. But lately I've been missing my old 29-5, plain blue 4 inch pre lock. I am not opposed to the lock really, or advances in manufactoring. For some stupid reason I've been hankering for a plain blue 4 incher. I've been carrying this pistol for almost a year, and at get togethers she turns heads. But I keep getting this "soulless" feeling when I look at that stupid lock and hammer. Now I'm seriously debating trading or selling her to get a plain blue pre lock 29. What say the council?

I can certainly sympathize with your sentiments, althought the lock probably bothers me a little more than the hammer. Nevertheless, I understand (and agree) with your word "soulless."

As I see it, your situation is essentially a dollar question, and you are possibly in a good postion, if you take the right attitude. You are in no hurry, which is the way to sell anything. See whether you can get the right amount of money out of your new gun, keeping in mind that it is still a head-turner. Take your time on this.

What I would love to do is sell/trade this one for a m29 4 inch and a m28 or maybe 586 , both shooter grade, maybe higher end beater grade. Seems possible. Not looking for collector/safe queen. Problem is the prices peoplewant in my area are insane. Seems every beat to hell smith around here is worth 800 or more. I just saw a craptastic model 10, filthy as all get out with a 400 tag on it.
