What is the differene, besides cosmetics in the 627 PC vs, Pro Series? Also the diff in price new. I can't seem to find a listing on a Performence Center gun. This is in 4 inch.

Thanks

The PC version has the action fitted by the performance center. The Pro version is basically a production gun with some bells and whistles.

I don't think the 4 inch Performance Center gun is in the current catalog of guns offered by Smith & Wesson. You might look on Gunbroker to see if you can find an old one.

TY for the info, So I assume you would think the PC version is a better operating gun? What would you buy and any Idea on a good price for the PC version? I have not been able to find one in a store online anywhere to see if a pawn shops price is a fair price.

Thanks again

The PC version has a 5 inch barrel the Pro is a 4 inch. Typically the PC version runs about $2-250 more. The MSRP for the PC 627 is around $1250 and that seems to be what people ask for them. The Pro MSRP is around $1000 but I have seen them around $850 new. I have seen some better prices very rarely on Gunbroker or GunsAmerica. I had a local gunshop price a PC 627 at $1000 plus tax and 850 for the Pro but he couldn't find either from his distributors. They seem to be harder to come by which drives the price up. I have been looking for a 627 PC for a couple of years now but I won't buy one unless I get the right price.

I am quite happy with my 627 Pro. The more I shoot it the better I get with it. I am on my third set of grips with it, currently Pachmayr Decelerators, which work well enough for me but I am hoping to find something even better.

PC vs Pro. The price of a new PC will probably be around $300 more than a Pro. I think right out of the box the PC will shoot better. It will be smoother and probably sighted in better. I think if you shoot your Pro, it will probably get just as smooth over time and you can sight it in yourself.

From your post it sounds like you have found a 4 inch PC at a pawn shop. If you want to tell us the condition and price, probably lots of people here will be happy to give you an opinion if it is a good deal or not. Without ever having seen one, I still think a 4 inch PC would be a desirable gun to have.

Hands down the best part is the 5" barrel. What a huge difference.

The 627 PC also gives you the tuned action with the reduced power springs. The trigger on one is buttery smooth and not very heavy and yet everything seems to ignite. The tear drop hammer is nice as is the flash chromed bits. And you get the really nice gold bead front sight. I've not shot a 627 Pro but it's supposed to be all standard parts with the groovy looking barrel. The PC is supposed to put them together but they don't hand fit anything beyond normal. I'm sure they are good guns but for not that much more you really get a top shelf revolver. Whole different barrel of monkeys but I really think the M60 Pro is VERY worth the extra bones for that model. What a nice gun.

Paid $815 for a 627 Pro Series Saturday before last.

It is very nice I have no regrets.

Besides the chrome trigger my understanding is the Pro Seies has the same parts from the performance center they are just assembled on the regular production line so they can be used in regular production gun competitions. After assy they are taken back to the Performance Center and given a final QC and test fired.
