In the almost new Mountain Gun I bought in .45 Colt has a mention on the outside of the blue plastic case of a fired casing by S&W in the box. Mine is missing. It could of been sent off the authorities in the past or it could of just disappeared. I want to recreate the missing casing in the box.

I am not someone wanting to resell. I have yet to ever sell a gun I have bought, but I am a stickler for wanting things right or at least recreated right. Would it of been in a small envelope in yellow/orange color of a small plastic bag?

I will take the appropriate round and fire it for the replacement casing.

It should have been in a small-sealed coin envelope with a sticker on the outside indicating the date it was fired. You indicated "almost new" and I'm not sure what that means, but a brand new S&W will have the sealed coin envelope containing the spent shell casing.

You might want to call customer service at S&W to see if they will tell you what brand they use in test firing that model.

Um.... since it goes into a sealed envelope, does it really matter?

Someone would need to open it to see if it is the real deal - and since you say you are not trying to fake anything, just use any used shell.

IIRC on the outside of the sealed coin envelope the date and initials of the person who fired it was hand handwritten there. I would have to look at one of mine to know for sure what else is on it as my state doesn't require them to be submitted. You might want to wright duplicate on the envelope so if someone does sell it after you pass or whatever they know it's not the original just so no one thinks they are trying to put one over.

Or Just Fire The Round And Put YouR Own Initials On The Envelope As Th E Person Who FIred It!

To the best of my recollection I have only purchased one NIB S&W since the silliness of the fired case began. This was a 60-18 the year they came out. The envelope was a small manila one, something like 2x3". The case was a Starline. and, again if my memory serves, in spite of the gun being a .357 Magnum I believe the case was a .38 Special! Can't say for sure though.

I am sure of the Starline case. Since they do not load ammunition there is no such thing as "factory ammunition" in this brand. I have no idea what company the ammunition would have been loaded by.

I just checked my casing from my m&p 9c and the head stamp was WIN. Hope that helps
