Default Governor inspired thought

When I first read an article on the Governor, I got to thinking:

What if S&W set up a full length 45 N frame cylinder this way? We could have a N frame that could shoot 45 ACP and 45 Colt interchangeably without the stretched cylinder and gimmicky (IMO) shotshell option.

Of course you couldn't use 45 AR, but I could live with that and use Colt or S&W Schofield cases when I want a rim. And your auto cases have to be clipped for headspace, but really they practically need to be anyway.

Make mine a 4 inch skinny barrel with adjustable sights. Thoughts?

I agree a 625 in 45 Colt, factory moon clip cut so it will also fire 45acp would make a very good revolver. I have no idea why this has not been produced to date. I would much rather go to 45 Colt when I did not wish to use moon clips than 45AR.
Another good advantage of the 45Colt length cylinder would be using shotshells.

Unless S&W is currently making a Model 25 or 625 in .45 Colt, I don't see S&W doing this anytime soon.

But TK Custom will machine a .45 Colt cylinder to take moonclipped .45ACP rounds exactly as you describe - Welcome to TK Custom.com & Moonclips.com

It is a great thought,I have a pre model 25(45acp & 45AR) with a second .45LC cylinder and I love it.It is one of the most usefull Revolvers that I can think of,far better than 38/357.
