I picked this up earlier today. It's a Model 19-5 that was part of a small run of bead blasted revolvers that was made for the U.S. State Department's Diplomatic Security Service. I passed on the CT grips, though.

And a big thank you to snw19_357 for confirming that this revolver is what it appeared to be.

Looks good to me with those pics.

I like that finish.
But, then again I've always had a thing for the ones that shoot better than they look.
I'll take a 28 over a 27 every day. :)

...not that a 27 would shoot any worse than a 28. ;)

That's cool! I don't have the SCSW with me. Any idea when that revolver dates to? I am curious about what time period DSS issued them.

They all seem to have left the factory between the end of 1986 and the beginning of 1987

I spoke with my friend who's former DSS, now with another agency. He said he was issued one when he came on in '88, in '93 they were replaced with the Sig 228.

Thank you! It is interesting that when DSS purchased these, the high capacity autoloader change had already started.

I didn't know these were out there. My Dad was in DS from 1983-2001 . He was issues one of these 19s before the P228 . He's a big guy (6'2") and preferred to carry his personal 4" 19 (which he still has) . I remember his snubbie had the wood fingergroove grips on it.
