How do these compare? The word is that Colt is bringing back some double action revolvers in 2014. If they do, I will buy one for sure. They say they are designing a new DA CC revolver. I don't need a new gun for carry. I would just buy it and collect it in the safe.

Comparison wise it seems like the old magnum carry might not compete well with the 640 Pro because of the dovetailed trijicons and the moonclips.

Do you guys think Colt could market a gun to compete with the performance Ctr 627 snubby eight shot? Entirely different direction with this post, but just curious. Thx

Don't hold your breath on Colt. Unfortunately, false hope in the rebirth of the Colt DS springs forth at SHOT time every year just to have them dashed a week or so from now.

If Colt brings out a new revolver that is concealable I will look at it, but I sold my Colts D and I and E frames because of little factory support and increasing value.

For a gun that I might need day or night and with great power/size ratio and night sights I will keep my 640 Pro. IMHO best J frame ever built.

That would be a grail gun for me if they can do it like their 1911's. I like Smiths but I have been shooting a Colt OMS .22 since I was 8, I have that trigger action and cylinder release in my genes.

I bought a Colt SFVI back when it came out because it was about the same size as my J frame but held 6 rounds instead of S&W's 5,

Very nice gun but kinda light trigger pull, (supposedly lightest trigger Colt ever made) .
Switched from a Model 60 to a Model 37 instead and parked the little SS Colt in my safe...
Actually had kinda forgotten it was in there until now so might have to schedule a future range date with it while its fresh in my mind.

After owning three new Colts that we're better at paper weights I'll never buy another new colt or a colt product again. Colt has had quality problems from the '70's, '80's, & '90's and I had there new guns to prove it. I'll stay with my rugers and s&w' s. I've had two 1911 Colts and one python. That's enough for me. Just because it's higher priced doesn't mean it's the best in quality.

That's a good question. Hmmmm ?
Can the colt be nickel ?
I don't have any Colts but sure do love my SW357 -8 shot and my Ruger.
If colt makes one- I would buy one and safe it-also

I hate to pee on anyone's Colt parade, but I've had a couple of Detective Specials and Cobras. Honestly, they sort of felt CHEAP to me, compared to a good Smith trigger. Just my opinion, but I do love those S&W's.

I retired my Colt Cobra, purchased new in 1968, to my safe and now carry either a 442 or M38. The Cobra was my first off-duty gun and I'd hate to have that Colt sit in a police evidence locker and get rusty.

I have a Colt Magnum carry and it is a great little Gun.Makes you wonder why Colt only made them for such a short time?

I've encountered many similar reports. In Colt's defense, once they made the assuredly difficult decision to jettison their double-action revolver line in the mid-'90s, modernize production processes and concentrate on bread-and-butter M4 for government contracts and 1911 for civies, the quality of their products rose sharply. By most accounts, they're making the best 1911s they've ever made now.
