Catch the end of last nights episode? It looks like he's packing a 627 PC snub as they move closer to the "present." Awesome show!

You can catch it at the end when he pulls over to talk to Cole. The ejector cutaway in the underlug is visible. Funny thing is I just ordered one of those last week.

This came up in the Lounge and consensus last I checked was it's a 66 snubby.

Indeed a fine show...

This is what I saw at the end of the most recent episode: Woody opens the cylinder of his short barrel, stainless, fluted cylinder, slabside barrel, adjustable sights. Was too fast for me to tell if it was 2.5 or 3 inches. Nice looking gun, looked brand new. To my eyes, it looked like it could be a L or N frame. Looking at the S&W online website, I could not find a current model with the fluted cylinder and the slabside short barrel. Might be a discontinued or custom model. Anyone able to identify the specific model?

Can't find a pic of the scene at the end of last night, but here's a shot from a few episodes ago.

Didn't get a good shot of it, but I'm 99% positive it's one of the early 627 PC snubs with the fluted cylinders, like the one in Blood Work.

On the other thread about this show I said I thought it was a 627 Bloodwork type N frame. After the ending of last night's episode I'm convinced it is...

I agree that the gun in this photo doesn't look to be a Model 66 given the slab side barrel. Could be a 627. Maybe he used a 66 in earlier episodes?

Check out the cylinder face. Looks like an 8 shooter to me. I'm sticking to my 627 PC snub theory.

In my view, it's without question an original issue (fluted cylinder) Performance Center 627. If you watch the scene in Episode 4: Who Goes There where he braces Tyrone Weems behind the building where they were having the rave, you can very plainly see Marty's revolver.

The photos from post #8 are from the scene in which I described the revolver in post #6. Thanks TJ for posting those pics. I agree 627 PC with fluted cylinder. Honestly when I first saw it I was thinking N frame but then practicality took over and I thought would the detective really want to carry around that relatively heavy piece all day. I forgot this is Hollywood and bigger looks better on the screen. Woody you need to get some range time in with that baby and soot it up a bit. Or better yet send it to me and I will break it in. Michelle Monaghan come on over anytime you need to work something out.
One more thing, I am firmly in the fluted cylinder camp.

Now that I've seen the pics it's certainly no 66 or standard 686 -- and yes, it looks like a Blood Work.

Whatever you guys think the gun is, I'm betting it's a non-functioning replica, except for the scenes where someone is actually firing a gun...and I'm not really sure about those. Most high-dollar productions won't trust or endanger a highly-paid star with a real gun. Look at Saving Private Ryan and the 10-part HBO series, Band of Brothers for example. 95% of the .45 semi-autos and other weapons (especially machine guns) in that film were made of rubber.

Love the show, though, but I wish they'd pick up the pace a little. There's only two episodes left. And I never did figure out who the guy was who was running around in his underwear wearing a gas mask and carrying a machete...did they do anything with this guy?

Agree about the Bloodwork revolver in the "present" scene. Great screen shots BTW. I think it's badass the way he's a revolver guy - no doubt about it.

I never thought 66 for the "flashbacks" just because it looks like a full underlug to me - who knows?

Sure is fun to speculate though.

I thought gas mask guy was one of the derelicts they assassinated when they found the kids?

That crossed my mind, but there's only that one glimpse of him from a distance when he's wearing the mask and carrying the machete, so I wasn't sure it's one and the same guy.

I don't much care what happens to Detective Hart...he's pretty much of a jerk, in my opinion, but I'm really interested where they take the character of Cohle in the final two episodes. As you say, it's interesting and fun to speculate.

I like the series, strong characters and the narrative between past and present is interesting. The gas mask guy surely looks creepy!

Today I´ll watch episode 5............no spoliers please!!!

With how good this and The Wire are/were, HBO is really ****ing up if they don't constantly have at least one cop show on the air. Can't wait to see how they wrap this up.
