I worry every now and then about the durability of my guns with a titanium cylinder. I was wondering if anyone here has had their Ti cylinders Cerakoted or protected in another way. Thinking out loud here....

I've been carrying a titanium cylinder (340PD) daily in my pocket for about ten years, it has some shiney spots but no other "wear". After all, that metal is used in surgical implants and other difficult environments. I think black Cerakote would look better, and have thought about doing that, but would probably develop appearance issues as fast or faster.

Nothing will prevent the quick and severe damage to the front face of the cylinder, caused by firing 110 gr Magnum loads. Ask me how I know...

It's the erosion problem I'm concerned with, not appearance. Honest wear is character. Granted...if those hot, light loads tear off the factory coating, they'll probably do the same to Cerakote.

About 10 years EDC, and lots of practice as you can see from the grip wear. No erosion issues.

I am in Mr. Shooter1911's camp.

My wife and I both have J-frames with titanium cylinders. Admittedly, both have only seen 38 special ammo.

I'm a "special" guy and that's all I shoot. :)

But, I do shoot a lot of it. So far, no damage of any kind.

There is a line in a Caribbean islands song that comes to mind . . . Don't worry, mon. Be happy. ;)
