Default 686 Silhouette Questions

Saw a 6" 686 Silhouette in my LGS a week and a half ago but had other priorities at the time. Went by today and he still had it and had in fact dropped the price from $650 to $600. So I bought it and was playing with the front sight. The wheel is obviously the elevation adjustment but not sure how the numbered holes with pins in them fit in to the picture. I assume they are preset distances but not sure exactly how this works. Can someone school me on this sight? Anyone know the ship date for serial number AYU8904 Thanks

You can set elevation height with a allen wrench for each number on the wheel. Silhouette is usually shot 50, 100, 150 and 200 meters so you would set the sight for zero at those ranges. I used mine just for 38 vs 357 loads then made it totally useless by installing a Red Dot sight to it.
