New (to me) carry piece
I just got (from a friend) a S&W 642-1 with box, etc. It is a no lock snubby airweight .38 and looks like it will make a wonderful carry piece when nothing bigger will work (like perhaps hot weather).
I'll shoot it soon and give a range report. So far, I like the lil thing.

Congrats! They're great little guns. Now... where are the pictures?

A wonderful pocket pistol! Good choice. I'm never without my 642 (okay, mine has an IL). It also goes into IWB holsters easily if you elect to go that route.

Great contemporary revolver.
Drop it in your pocket and you're good to go.

I thought 642's were all steel. ???
And....good luck with your 642. Whatever it is made of, it will serve you well.

Nice buy, you will love it. Once I got my first airweight centenial, I wondered how I got by without it.

640's are the steel centennials.
And great purchase. They are so easy to carry.

You mean one of these? I prefer to carry a S&W snubby. It takes more practice to get proficient with it, but it's well worth it.

I carry a 442, which is the black version, everyday either in my pocket or on my hip.

My 442 has Barami hip grips on it, and my 340pd has crimson trace grips. I always have one or the other with me, sometimes both.
When I carry a bigger gun, I usually carry one of the j frames instead of a reload for the big gun. Ed
