The K38, by far. The Model 10 and the Military & Police which proceeded it has sold over 1 million copies. That includes Victory models made during WWII. 6 million copies if you include all the .38 Hand Ejectors and variations made since 1899.

Another vote for the model 10.
I could very well be wrong, but the 642 is probably the number one currently selling.

I would be curious which one has the most "keep it until I die" rather than try and sell quality. I have my first M57 .41 Magnum and a J frame M37 airweight. Past those two, dang few have come and stayed.

The basic K-frame .38 special has been in continuous production since 1899. I am confident that it is out in front by a wide margin.

I agree in sheer numbers over that extended period of time.

Great question! And I have to agree that the K38 is the likely champ. However, I have to think that the Md 686 is a contender for a top position. They've been made in large numbers since what, 1980? And they've been a popular seller all that time. That's 34 years of production and popularity. Plus, if you count its siblings, the 586, 581 and 681, then, well, that's a lot of guns!

Wow, there is a lot of latitude in that question. You list revolvers but don't say it is limited to just revolvers.
The most popular caliper could be the .38 S&W and it may be the most produced handgun caliber. Also popular with .357 mag owners.
Along the modern [last 50 years] revolvers the 686/681 & 585/581 series might have the most fans and received the most accolades. I could be wrong. That could well be my personal bias speaking.
Looking forward to reading more responses.

Model 442
I may be wrong but the model 442 38 special is and maybe still is the most popular model.

The plain Jane K-frame in .38 Special without doubt wins the crown as the most popular most produced of all the S&W revolvers.

Not sure of the purpose or goal of the question, but taking the police service revolvers out of the mix could be an interesting twist. In terms of availability, one would think that would be proportional to the absolute number produced, barring destruction of guns that get retired by LEOs.
Where does this question lead us?

I would have to believe the "Police service" guns would lead the models in sales.....
1) M&P/ Model 10; K frame 38s.....1899-
2) 19/66s ......1956-
3) 36/60s; J frames.........1950-
Second thought more J-frame .38s than K-frame .357s
