640 pro sparking on the firing pin??
Just picked up a used 640pro from a fellow member. its in mint shape, locks up tight and looks clean.
I put some A-Zoom snap caps in it to dry fire a little and I noticed when I fire it, if I look through the side between the cylinder and the FP bushing, I can see sparks when the FP hits.
I thought at first it was the snap caps, so I have some all plastic ones and got the same effect.
Anyone ever see this before? Is this a problem with the FP hitting the bushing and causing the sparks?
Would like to know if its causing damage? going to wear out the bushing? ill fitting FP or what??
thanks in advance for any help

This question comes up every few months when talking about new revovlers
You are correct, the sparks are from the two metals striking each other, The firing pin is steel while the bushing is titanium.
Sooner or later the two parts will wear into each other and this will diminish or disappear

Thank you for the quick reply. I figured as much, but wanted to make sure it wasn't something out of adjustment. Never saw it on my 60 or 686...

Did you buy them new or used? A used one will have already worn together.
Plus not all New firearms do this.

Bought used, but low round count. I dry fired it probably 200 times and it was still doing it. We'll see what a one or two hundred rounds does for it later this evening...

Just don't dry fire around a gas leak!
My new 640 Pro does it as well as my thoroughly broken-in 642-1. It is kinda unnerving to see sparks when you think there should not be any.

My 640 pro did this too. Not every strike, but every third or fourth. I did notice that this issue stopped when I installed an Apex Tactical J frame duty kit with new FP and springs. Not sure if that was coincidence though.

OK, gratuitous photo oportunity to show off my 640 Pro with some of the other "pocket litter" that followed it out of the house today...

It's a bonus feature to add realism to dry fire practice.
The 640 is an absolute good.
