What's up guys this is my first post on the revolver side and I have a question. I just traded my dad my M&P 9 for my grandmothers model 64-3. It's a beautiful gun and very dear to me but I was wondering if it is rated for +P ammo. Because it's sentimental it probably will not be carried but I would like to keep hot ammo in it it for home defense if I can do so without damaging it. Any info would be really helpful. It's an older model she's had it for years if that makes any difference. All that I've read says it +P rated but I don't know. Here's a few pictures of the new addition.

Yes, it's safe to use +P ammo in it. I just picked up a 64-3 that is from 1983, +P ammo had been around for awhile by then, common duty ammo for many agencies, nothing to worry about.

Watched a you tube video earlier of Hickok 45 shooting smith revolvers. Those unfamiliar he does very colorful videos. He was shooting a model pre 10 smith 38 using all sorts of loads plus p included. The gun was early 1950's era. The plus p loads today I'm convinced are the typical 38 loads in days passed. I'm sold on the fact we are beating a dead horse with plus p inquiries

Just read some stats on 38 special and it stated the same thing. The 38 specials from the 60s and 70s were pretty much the equivalent of the +P stuff today. Thanks for the info.
