Just received 929, very sharp in more ways than one. The feeding cone had burs. I gently filed them down. They were bad enough to shred a rag and cleaning patches. I certainly don't expect burs from a Performance Center handgun. I hope I did the right thing by smoothing, instead of sending back to Smith. I cleaned it because it's new. Have not shot it yet. All my other SW revolvers are pre-2K broken in, nice actions and definitely no locks.

Commandment #11 - thou shall not covet thy neighbor's S&W model 929.

JMO, BUT ON A NEW GUN, IT'S NOT YOUR PROBLEM TO FIX!

Send it back! Let them fix what should have never left the "PC?". If that is the norm for guns leaving the PC, then they have some serious QC issues & should consider changing their name. I hope your handiwork didn't void the warranty. A classic example of why I hate buying new. The best move IMO is to bring a magnifying glass to the lgs before paying for it & REFUSE to accept ANY gun not up to your standards & let the lgs deal with it's return. If the gun was never in your possession, it's hard for them to blame the user for their poor QC. Good luck, you deserve much better after laying out that kind of $.

PC stands for Perfect ****, not even up to standard production guns of the "bad" years of S&W during Leer-Sigler's occupation. If this post is considered bashing by the mods, please excuse me and delete. Thanks

Mind came in today and I looked at it and did not pay for it. The wheel does not open. It does open but it not right. I don't even want it anymore. The same thing with my sw 44. That's a PC gun also. Sw fixed it but come on man. Do your job get it right the first time. I don't know how they could send a gun out like that. It's a PC gun.

I bought one about 3 weeks ago and I did take a magnifying glass and bore light with me to the LGS. Mine seems perfect in every way. I am not a fan of the titanium alloy cylinder. It discolors quickly and is impossible to clean. Any cleaning suggestions? Another gripe is it only came with 1 moon clip.

Sending your gun back to s&w to fix the gun. You will get it back fixed - polish - 101 percent right. When I got my 44 mag back I was very happy. I kind of want to find something wrong so I can get all my revolvers polish.

I bought mine as a competition gun, looks do not bother me. Mine has been shot more out of a ransom rest than not. I can correct the hammer rubbing on both sides of the frame and the lock, and not hitting square on the fireing pin and frame stop, 12LB double and 6LBS single action pull. The issue I am having is getting it to group at 50 yards. Best so far is with 160 gn lead at 2.5". 115 and 124 JHP look like shotgun patterns at 50 yards.

My brother's 929 is at the PC for the same reason. Groups like a shotgun at 50 feet, not yards.

You guys are scaring the **** out of me. I have a 642PC at the LGS now for pick up that I ordered. I thought I could count on a work of art. ahhhhhhhhhwwwwwwww.

I'm glad I am not the only one with these problems. Smith really dropped the ball on this one.

What is the best way to contact Smith to return it for repair?

Thanks

I had to look up what a 929 is. Why did they call it that? x29s should be in .44 Magnum, not 9mm.

Smith is sending me a shipping label, we shall see if they get it right!

I paid a lot of money for it to be, "according to them" competition ready.

Will post when I get it back.

Just checked the cylinder throat on mine, a .358 jacketed or lead projectile falls thru the cylinder !! That may explain some of my accuracy issues.

If that's the case with the cylinder throats; I hate to think about what diameter barrel is sized at!???? Are they using .355 or .356 inch diameter barrels?
