929 finally

Measured with pin guages, Barrel is .347" and the cylinder throats are .357".
Walther barrel 9mm spec's are .347" land and .355" groove.

Just checked the cylinder throat on mine, a .358 jacketed or lead projectile falls thru the cylinder !! That may explain some of my accuracy issues.

What should the cylinder throats measure?

I don't have a pin gauge, but a .355 bullet falls straight through on all 8 holes.

I have been told the bullet should require a light push through the cylinder throat.

Just got a 929. Aside from the ugly rear barrel face it seems fine except for the throat dimensions. Mine measures right about 0.359" using an expanding ball gage and a digital micrometer. Really?

Rather put out. Was hoping to try some really long range work when it warms up, but there's just no way it'll be satisfactory as is.

Seems the factory spec for the throat ( Smith calls it the ball end) is .3575", on the 929 even though the .38 super guns were .356". Smith had no explanation as to why the change. Seems to me the thing to do is collect or make .357 cylinders and have a dual cartridge gun.

Sorry to hear about these problems with PC guns. Just got a 929 and finish/fit is flawless. No burrs or shavings ...not sure about throat size

Have to add that none of my new revolvers have had a problem -and I'm pretty picky. Hoping the problems are resolved quickly and you can start enjoying it!
