Default New Ahrends Cordia Grips! What do you think?

These are really nice. I snagged them off Ebay from Gripseller on Friday. They arrived today.

Ahrends Cordia Retro Combat K/L Round to Square Conversions:

I just put them on my 586 L Comp to check them out. I have a 686 Plus 3" coming on Wednesday. I think they may wind up on the 686. I really like how they feel on the 586. The 586 comes with short Altamont's that let the pinky dangle. Looks really cool, but the Ahrends are more functional. What do you guys think?

Here are the original Altamont Grips:

For some reason I think the Ahrends will wind up on the 686 3" when it gets here on Wednesday:

Very nice grain on those!

I'd have to see them on a stainless gun first but think they'd look better on a "blued" gun.

Best feeling grips i have tried. I did put the retro combat finger grooves on my carry comp to avoid some of the bump. Nice purchase, Ted

Here's my 625-8 JM wearing Cordia Ahrends retro combats.

OP, your new stocks will look great on that 686!

Ahrends Retro Combats are my grip of choice for square-butt guns. I prefer Ahrends Bananas for round-butt guns. They both suit my stubby-fingered paws the best of anything I've tried. I had a pair of Cordias, but the light part of the wood was too yellow for me and I exchanged them for Moradilla. Those look pretty good on your gun, however, less yellow than mine. Thanks for patronizing Terry, BTW - she's good people.

Ahrends makes great grips and has for many years. I prefer darker wood generally, but those are nice!

Nice stocks
They look very nice but I'm thinking they're mustang's. Very popular years ago, haven't been made for awhile.

Good to know! Thanks for the info. I haven't heard of Mustangs. They came cheap out of box o' stocks at a gunshow. Probably fit my hand better than any others I have.

Here's what they may look like on a stainless gun...

Not Retros, but basically the same deal.

I came close to ordering some Cordia wood Retro Targets for my nickel finish model 27 when I was looking for some Ahrends for my 629. I ended up getting these Moradillo wood round to square Retro Combats for my 629 Classic. I love how well they fit my hand and can't wait to go try them out at the range.

Great choice. Ahrend's retro-combats, in dark red cocobolo, on my model 58 ( see avatar ) made shooting it a pleasure.
Feeling the need for some retro -targets.....but which wood to choose, they all look so nice!

Retro Combat grips are probably the most comfortable style in Ahrends roundup. I put a set on a 66-1. Cordia is a good color for SS or blue. You made a good choice.

Here are three 4" 629's stocked in cocobolo, cordia and morado.
I like them all but think cordia and cocobolo look great on both blued and stainless.

I solved my dilemma. I contacted Gripseller on Ebay and asked if I could exchange the Cordia Round to Square Ahrends for these Round Retro Combats in Red Stained Maple (sorry for the small pic but Ebay removed the big pic):

Terri is awesome and gladly exchanges them for me. I will have them Friday. Terri shipped the new ones without even getting the returns back! I think these will look and function the best on my 586 L Comp.

The Talo 686 3" Deluxe grips will go on my 686 Plus 3" non-Talo that is coming tomorrow Which will make it exactly the same as the Talo version as the grips are the only difference.

The original 586 L Comp Grips will go in the grip drawer for the moment

I think I looked at that very pair of Ahrends and I'm not sure why I passed but they certainly look exotic on your M586. I just purchased a couple of pairs of Ahrends from gripseller and you couldn't find a nicer person to deal with. I screwed up my first order by ordering "N" instead "K" frames and Terri from Gripseller did an even swap and even payed for the postage on the pair she returned shipped. I had the oppertunity to talk with Kim Ahrend and he directed me to her site as he is two months out on special orders of any kind. I can't wait to get these grips a workout as my only other past experience has been with Altamont who specialize in a fine quality laminated grips. I had to try the Ahrends after reading the comments by folks on the Forum. I also wanted the experience of having a pair of exotic solid hardwood grips which do offer the advantage of being more repairable in the event that you ding them. Price wise I found the basic style Ahrend grip to be almost the same as Altamonts. For the best inventory of Ahrend grips at the present you won't find a better dealer than Terri at Gripseller on Ebay.

Yes Gripseller is awesome. I don't do much on eBay anymore but if I need Ahrends products that is the first stop.
