Can anyone help with more info on this S&W629-1. It has a special order #7100. It is brightly polished and has custom grips.

The Special Order Number is the day it shipped in Julian date format. Your 629-1 would be the 100th day of 1987 or April 10th.

The product code is for a stock standard production M629 with a 8 3/8-inch barrel. Would of shipped with wood Target Stocks with speed loader cutout. If it has a high polish, someone did that after it left the factory. Many would consider that a deduct in value, though some like the look.
